Thats kind of like telling fat people to exercise more. My dad was an elder, he had all the old publications and he never read them. I grew up in 'the truth' and never heard any elders talk about reading any old publications. But when I was at Bethel other Bethelites were paranoid of the older publications and suspected you of being apostate if you were up in the Bethel library reading them.

Ted Jaracz mystery.
by imfreeimfree inted jaracz mystery.. in another thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/108263/1.ashx willyloman said:ted jaracz was the bethel celebrity on the program.
in a concluding talk, he scolded today's elders for being so preoccupied with entertainment and said, "why in our day, we didn't need entertainment.
" he went on to tell the bothers they should fill their free time by going back and reading all the wts' publications, back to 1919.

What do you call people who adopt other opinions without researching them?
by DavidChristopher ini was talking to two elders yesterday..... i was confronted about the whole "bad associations" question.
i asked them what "bad associations" were.
they have no idea what bad associations are to the author, only their opinions and the opinions of their chosen leaders.

Life in Bethel & Ex-Bethelites know if the GB prayed together?
by Sheepish ini have always wondered how seriously they took this dispensing doctrine thing.
do they all get together and actually pray or just have meetings?
ex- bethelites say they wrote doctrinal articles for the watchtower or awake.

I thought Fred Franz went into his room and kind of went into a trance, (probably after a few gin and tonics), and wrote alot of their crapola full of disconnected thoughts trying to pass itself of as deep spirtual thinking. Come to think of it was Franz really in that room at all or was he at a dirty movie. I guess only the holy ghost knows and he/she/it ain't talking.

I served under Knorr at Bethel and what Samuel Johnson said applies...
by Boxed elder bugs ini served under nathan knorr at bethel during the seventies and what the writer samuel johnson said applies to him, "he is not only dull, he is the cause of dullness in others.".
the only time he wasn't a dull montone voice on the bethel t.v.
was when he was berating some 'new boy' for some minor transgression.

I served under Nathan Knorr at Bethel during the seventies and what the writer Samuel Johnson said applies to him, "he is not only dull, he is the cause of dullness in others."
The only time he wasn't a dull montone voice on the Bethel t.v. was when he was berating some 'new boy' for some minor transgression. Then he went from somebody who sounded like Floyd the barber on the old Andy Griffith show to sounding like Captain Bligh about to make somebody walk the plank.
I wish I could reserrect Knorr for just a few minutes and kick him right in the butt.
Sorry, thats the only violent thought I have besides pulling Jehovah's beard.

Does Jehovah wear underwear?
by Boxed elder bugs inwell he is often pictured in a old hebrew version of what looks like a toga, and you know some of the angels flying behind him have to be curious.

The leaking organization, seems like the young are exiting fast.
by free2beme ini ran across a witness i knew the other day at the gym and we had an open and honest discussion on exiting the organization.
he still goes and used to be an elder, but stepped down when his children were disfellowshipped.
he was actually very honest with me on some subjects, which tells me that he is probably putting together an exit foundation and looking for some bricks of information to make it solid.

I'll try that line at the next JW baptism. Maybe they'll trample a few elders trying to get out of the water.

That's because they keep spending all of our social security money on wars. If we get into war in Iran or Venezuela next we will probably all be retiring at ninety.

There's a real contribution to your child's education, lets get rid of hot cross buns. Jehovah's Witnesses the masters of diversion have done it again. If religion is 'the opium of the people' than Jehovah's Witnesses are the most sucessful drug pushers around. If you want to complain about symbols what about those Mason's symbols that appeared all over the Witness literature? Anything to keep the masses preoccupied and diverted from whats really going in the world and from trying to get their children a good education because they don't want our kids competing with rich people's kids now do they.

Once in a blue moon to remember a quote that appies to something I may be writing about, but not as a inspired bluepring for everything or anything.
